Prospective Candidates Chosen

30 April 2017

We're delighted to announce that prospective parliamentary candidates are now selected for the three constituencies coming within Blackpool and Fylde Green Party’s area of responsibility. All three candidates have experience of standing in the last general election and together make a strong team.

Blackpool North and Cleveleys – our candidate is Duncan Royle. Duncan is chair of B&FGP, and we are confident Duncan can build on the promising 2015 result in this constituency, the first time we had contested the seat.

Blackpool South – again this is the second time we are fielding a candidate in this constituency, and again we expect to build on the 2015 result. We have an excellent prospective candidate, John Warnock, who also stood in the last general election.

Fylde – Tina Louise Rothery will be our candidate in Fylde. Our party stood in the constituency in 2010 for the first time, and in 2015 we more than doubled our vote. We are confident that with a strong candidate we can do the same again, and demonstrate the Greens are a force to be reckoned with in Fylde politics.

Over the next days we will be formulating our campaign strategy. It will be no surprise if our main effort is concentrated in Fylde, where we have perhaps the greatest chance of making an impact. And of course with Fylde the potential cradle of UK fracking, many eyes will be on us. We will mount a vigorous campaign and demonstrate here, as throughout the UK, the Green Party is becoming a strong force for change.
